One of the first thoughts after seeing all the damage was how farms in that part of the state were affected.  I didn’t know any farm names in particular until I saw a post on Facebook about River Rock Farm in Brimfield.  According to Hingham Farmers’ Market’s fan page, they lost their barn and some fencing, as well as many plants.

This is awful to hear, especially as market season is now underway and when many farmers make a majority of their annual income.

Ironically, we were already setting aside 10% this month to donate to the Massachusetts Farmers’ Markets based on the the voting we had, but I can’t stop thinking about what some of these farms might need to get up and running.

So for June, Farmers are Cool will be donating another 10% somehow directly to farms like River Rock – we’ll hopefully be able to do a little bit to help.

Thank you for your support.  June is an excellent month where your shirt order can really make a difference.
